Leanne Cairns is a milliner, based outside the rural Ayrshire town of Dundonald, in Scotland. Leanne has been designing and creating hats of all types for her clients from her studio, on an appointment based service. Dedicated to creating luxury and elegant Millinery to make the individual feel special and encouraging more people to embrace the beloved hat and shine with confidence.
Leanne offers private, personal one-to-one consultations by appointment online via Zoom for the duration of Covid-19 restrictions or in her Ayrshire studio when allowed to do so. Here you are welcome to try designs from The Collection for purchase or hire. Alternatively discuss a completely bespoke millinery creation.
Leanne Cairns Millinery is an award winning business and its first three years had already came 5th and 4th in an International Competition in the public vote in HATtalk E-magazine, received a Highly Commended and Winner Award at the Scottish Wedding Awards in 2019 and 2020 and is driving the brand forward focusing on high quality production, exclusive designs and exceptional customer care.
LEANNE CAIRNS BIOGRAPHY
Leanne originally studied Interior Design BSC and has been sewing, drawing and painting from a very early age. Through various design related employment including Treehouse Design, Leanne developed a love of 3-d design, spacial design and ingenuity.
She has now turned all these skills and talents into her passion for creating structures to be worn on the head, and feels there is a real correlation with architecture, engineering and millinery, the same principles can be applied.
Her passion for hats began as a hobby, which then grew after she studied Millinery and learned the fundamentals, this fuelled her passion further to set up the business with her skills to design and produce ‘hat happiness’ for her clients.
Leanne Cairns started her millinery business, mainly dealing with fascinator’s in 2018 but recently re-branded to become Leanne Cairns Millinery in 2019.
Through increased demand from clients to create one-off bespoke designs for every occasion she realised her talents and skills could advise everyone that they can suit a hat, feel confident and has continued to grow year after year a collection with composed and considered design. Some designs are available for hire and a re-modelling service from old to new.

AWARDS, ACHIEVEMENTS & MORE
Leanne’s unique millinery designs have been recognised in 2019 by the Scottish Wedding Awards in winning the accolade of Highly Commended Wedding Accessory Provider 2019. After 1 year of trading this is a real achievement as it is initially voted by clients and then the judges pick their winners. Now in 2020 Leanne Cairns Millinery, after being nominated for the 2nd year in a row, has walked away with the Winners Award for Wedding Accessory Provider of 2020
Also in 2019, Leanne achieved 5th place in the public vote in Hat Talk e-magazine’s International Millinery Competition. This competition had 127 entries world wide and she received 606 votes for her ‘Harebell at Dusk’ hat entry on the theme Equilibrium. Another entry called ‘Infinite Alba’ was Leanne’s 2020 entry for this annual competition.In 2019 she was part of the Palma Hat Week exhibition and international Competition with her ‘Pearl Blue’ Beach Hat and this year exhibited her ‘Classic Indulgence Hat’ in felt ,feathers and couture beading at the World Famous, London Hat Week Exhibition, part of London Hat Week and organised by X-Terrace Platform.
In July 2020, she has been nominated for her services to attend the prestigious Royal Garden Party at Holyrood, Edinburgh.
Leanne’s designs regularly by in magazines in the UK such as Tie the Knot Scotland, Hatalk E-mag, Ayrshire Chamber Magazine and Engaging Magazine to name a few. She is an active member of Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, the Ayrshire Business Women and Scottish Business Association of Business Women.
